Position Description:
HRS Consulting, Inc. is seeking a
Subject Matter Expert – Policy to work in support of the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide best value healthcare and professional consulting services to the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). Qualified candidates will have experience guiding public policy for large-scale organizations. Prior experience establishing policies and procedures for government clients is preferred.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Establishing, authoring, and editing healthcare policies and procedures
- Implementing and supporting best practices throughout the entire duration of policy research for VHA projects
- Providing strong leadership and oversight of policy development
- Speaking with technical industry stakeholders, policymakers, and environmental stakeholders regarding a variety of policy-related issues
- Conducting healthcare policy and regulation analysis and supporting the development of policy recommendations to be reviewed by government employees
Experience/Education Requirements:
- U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder
- Eligibility to obtain Veterans Affairs (VA) suitability approval to access agency computer systems and facilities required to start work; current VA credentials preferred
- Bachelor’s degree required; Studies in Public Policy, Law, or Business preferred
- 10+ years of related experience managing, reviewing, and revising policy documents for large-scale organizations
- Excellent oral communications skills, with the ability to speak with diverse audiences with varying degrees of knowledge
- Knowledge and use of federal regulations
- Experience supporting VA or a federal government health-related program is a plus
- Ability to clearly communicate and exchange information with co-workers, teammates, stakeholders, and other personnel, as required
- Proficiency working across the Microsoft Office Suite
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
- This job operates in a professional office environment with prolonged periods sitting at a desk, attending meetings, and using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and video teleconferencing equipment.
- This is a largely sedentary role; however, the ability to move office items such as files, laptop/computer equipment, meeting materials, and other work supplies may require carrying and lifting items up to 15 pounds at times.
- Business travel may be required.
