Offering more than 100 certificate, associate and bachelor’s degree programs, Daytona State College (DSC) has responded to the education and workforce training needs in our region for more than 60 years. The college enrolls nearly 25,000 students annually at its seven instructional sites, with graduates serving in critical fields including health care, emergency services, business, education, hospitality, engineering, technology and more.

We currently have an opportunity to join our team of talented and diverse Faculty and Staff as a Student Activities Specialist.

Required Qualifications: This position requires an associate degree in education, sports management, recreation, or related field and one (1) year of related experience. A valid Florida Driver License is also required.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $15.63 with an approximate annual amount of $32,500.

Working Hours: Regular work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Evening, night and weekend hours are required as needed, especially during special events.

Please note: This position will be based on the Daytona campus but will serve Flagler/Palm Coast, DeLand, Deltona and New Smyrna Beach/Edgewater campuses.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Provides guidance, supervision and support to Student Government and other student organizations in planning and implementing campus and community service activities at all campuses.
  • Plans and implements departmental co-curricular programs that reflect student interests and support institutional values and goals.
  • Determines level of student interest in co-curricular programs and continually evaluates program effectiveness on and off campus.
  • Supports efforts to create opportunities for students to develop leadership, teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Supports departmental efforts to promote co-curricular activities in print and online media.
  • Manages the set up and maintenance of supplies and equipment for student programs and activities.
  • Assists with intramural sports events and activities.
  • Performs office management tasks, such as serving walk-in, telephone, and online request for services.
  • Assists with budget preparation.
  • Attends staff meetings to exchange information. Attends professional seminars and/or conferences to improve professional skills.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: The successful candidate must have the ability to perform clerical and technical tasks requiring a wide range of procedures, summarize, tabulate, and format data and information. This individual must have the ability to give information, guidance, or aid and knowledge in the operation and use of office technology, digital media and web-based applications. The successful candidate must be self-motivated and have strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills. This individual must be able to perform some physical work, such as lifting and placing items & equipment that weighs approximately 20 pounds.
