Job Description

Founded in 1967, Blue Ridge Community College has served the residents of the central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia for over 50 years. Its comprehensive program of instruction includes associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates in occupational/technical and college/university transfer programs. The College also provides non-credit workforce training and special interest classes for individuals, business, and industry.

Blue Ridge Community College department of Student Activities and Recreation Center seeks applications for a Student Activities Assistant. The successful candidate will provide customer service to students, provide coverage for the Student Activities office, design and create marketing materials including social media content. The Student Activities Assistant will assist with student-centered event planning and implementation, assist with procurement and budget tracking, and monitor the Rec Center front desk as needed

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.



KSA's/Required Qualifications
Outstanding customer service experience with demonstrated ability to interface with technology. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations and constituencies to assist prospective students. Excellent organizational skills including flexibility and prioritizing tasks, attention to detail, and record-keeping.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Student Activities, event planning, marketing, or other Student Services related fields. Degree or equivalent related education and/or work experience. Experience working in college setting encouraged.

Position is part-time/wage (no benefits), averaging 20-25 hours per week; additional hours as required; limited to 1500 hours max in 12 months. $14.50-$16.50/hour, depending on qualifications & experience. Work schedule may be flexible. Some evening and weekend recruitment events are required. Work hours normally between 8:00am-6:00pm. Tentative start date late January 2023.
