Street Maintenance Worker Trainee Job at City of Topeka
This position performs a variety of manual labor for the maintenance of street surfaces, curbs and gutters, and snow and ice control, including pick and shovel work, asphalt patching, crack sealing, placing concrete, spreading rock, transporting construction material, and operating snow and ice removal equipment. This is steady, year-round employment. Must be available for after-hour snow/ice and other emergency work as needed.
Trainees will receive training and assistance on company-paid time to obtain a Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL) which is required by the conclusion of the six month initial hire probationary period.
Starts at $15.54 per hour with advancement to $15.89 at six (6) months after successfully completing the initial new hire probationary period.
Requires high school diploma or equivalent. Must possess and maintain a valid Class C Kansas drivers’ license and city insurable driving record. Must possess and maintain a valid Class C Kansas drivers’ license and city insurable driving record at time of hire. Please review the Insurability Guidelines.
