Job Description:


Job Summary:


The Staging Area Manager (STAM) is responsible for managing all activities within the staging area and ensuring organization and space for all assigned resources while they wait for tactical assignments. The STAM reports to an Operations Section Chief (OSC) or other assigned supervisor and works in the Operations functional area. This position does not require relocation, but will need to be available for deployment nationwide.


Supervisory Responsibilities:


  • The STAM will be supervising camp crews and other single resources

Job Classification: Part time, call when needed


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Follows the direction of the OSC
  • Keeps the OSC informed of any potential problems or items of note
  • Establish and communicate chain of command, reporting procedures, risk management processes, and radio frequency management.
  • Establish a common operating picture with module supervisors.
  • Model leadership values and principles. Provide positive influence. Emphasize teamwork.
  • Establish and communicate objectives, priorities, potential work assignments, and performance expectations.
  • Obtain initial briefing from supervisor and attend subsequent operational period briefings. Determine the types and numbers of resources to be maintained in the staging area.
  • Establish the Staging Area to ensure quick response for apparatus/vehicles.
  • Establish vehicle traffic patterns and assign parking.
  • Coordinate with the Command and General Staff

Required Skills and Abilities:


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of receiving and distribution required
  • Ability to team build and lead personnel required
  • Ability to compose and present comprehensive reports required

Education and Experience:


  • Successful completion if ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 and 300 is required
  • Successful completion of the Position Specific Course within 1 year is required
  • STAM credential is preferred
  • Incident response experience is preferred
  • Prior experience serving as a STAM preferred

Physical Requirements:


  • Prolonged exposure to sitting or standing for long periods of time
  • Able to work up 12 to 16 hours per day
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
  • Must meet the physical requirements of the position up to and including 14 day deployments

Salary: $52.12 per hour

Pre-employment Requirements:


This position may be contingent upon passing a security clearance, background check, drug screen, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review, or credit check after acceptance of an offer and prior to beginning work, due to the nature of the services Chloeta provides.


Drug and Alcohol Testing:


To enforce Chloeta’s Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy, an employee or candidate could be subject to undergoing a drug screen and/or alcohol testing during or at the beginning of employment.


Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA):


Under the FCRA, Chloeta may request a credit check during the onboarding process. A written authorization form will be required before obtaining credit records.


Emergency Response:


Every Chloeta employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official Duty Station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official Position Description (PD). Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
