Responsibilities

The Division of Cardiology is seeking a motivated Staff Research Associate to perform experiments pertinent to studying the role of the cardiac nervous system in heart disease. In this role, you will collect electrophysiologic and neural data in humans, and in an animal models of cardiovascular disease. You will perform essential research duties including conducting experimentation in the lab’s animal models involving surgical dissection in both mouse and porcine models, recording of basic hemodynamic and electrical activities and analysis of tissue chemicals/proteins. In the role, you will process and analyze tissue for histochemical analysis, run ELISAS and western blots. You will also assist with animal procurement, surgical procedures, monitoring of animals after cardiovascular interventions and surgical procedures, small animal husbandry, including breeding and genotyping of small animals with assistants from laboratory animal staff, and analysis of data. Your responsibilities will also include maintaining laboratory operations such as overseeing supplies, reagents, equipment, and inspection.

Salary range: $24.88-$29.67 Hourly

Qualifications

Required:
  • BS in biochemistry, physiology, biology, or equivalent.
  • Expertise in performing ELISAS and basic tissue processing and immunohistochemical techniques
  • Ability to perform western blots and qPCR
  • Skills and prior experience in preparing buffers, solutions and reagents
  • Knowledge and prior experience in tissue preparation and specimen handling
  • Skills in basic computer use, Microsoft excel, office, powerpoint
  • Knowledge of PRISM, STATA
  • Previous wet lab experience
Preferred:
  • Skills to perform surgical and technical procedures in small and large animals
