JOB OVERVIEW:

The Staff Accountant role assists the department with the organization's accounting and auditing functions. These functions include maintaining the organization's accounting principles, practices, and procedures. This position requires experience and judgment to plan and accomplish organizational goals and objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Prepare and record general journal entries and conduct account reconciliations to ensure complete, timely and accurate information is properly recorded in the Company’s accounting records.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and reconcile cash and credit card receipts.
  • Monitors, reviews and verifies accounting records and transactions for accuracy, timeliness and adequacy of supporting documentation.
  • Ensures compliance with internal policies, agency rules and regulations, and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Assist in the identification and resolution of accounting inquiries and/or discrepancies.
  • Assist in development and preparation of financial projections, forecasts and special projects.
  • Provides input for the development of accounting applications, reports, forms, records and documented procedures.
  • Assist with other areas of accounting including Accounts Payable as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS/LICENSE:

EDUCATION:

B.S/B.A. in Accounting

EXPERIENCE:

1-2 years of experience in an accounting environment

SKILLS:

  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel Skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external customers to maximize performance, creativity, and problem-solving

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel, and reach with hand and arms
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20-25 pounds.
  • Fine hand manipulation (keyboarding).
  • Travel may be required to existing or new locations.
