Sr. Immigration Consultant

The Sr. Immigration Consultant supports the advising function for international scholars to ensure successful integration into the workplace and local community, as well as maintaining legal status under occasional guidance. Oversees visa and immigration applications of E, H, J, O, TN visas types and permanent residency processes. Plans and coordinates support services and cross-cultural programs for sponsored foreign nationals and their departments in addition to supporting on various regulatory compliance reports.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as the primary contact for the employment based immigration function and coordinate directly with departments and VUMC's contracted immigration council.
  • Supports the international advising function for VUMC's J-1 visa program.
  • Assists in developing appropriate processes and procedures for prompt and accurate processing and monitoring of immigration and visa applications for of E, H, J, O, TN visas types and permanent residency.
  • Ensures compliance with all aspects of the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS)and other federal laws.
  • Provides and maintains regulatory reports.

IMMIGRATION LAW (INTERMEDIATE):- Refers to any law or legal elements associated with laws as they apply in the workplace.

HR COMPLIANCE (INTERMEDIATE):- Understanding the rules, regulations, sanctions and other statutory requirements, guidelines and instructions relating to governing bodies and organizations, both internally and externally.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT (INTERMEDIATE):- Planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives.

Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) in international studies/international education or related field. and 3 years of direct experience in the field of international affairs/education.
