Description

SAIC is pursuing space system development opportunities across a broad spectrum of customer and domains. SAIC is looking for a motivated, innovative, career and customer-oriented Program Management Director to join and lead our team pursuing and executing agile, go-fast contracts with architecture concepts, systems, technologies, and capabilities that enable futuristic improvements for U.S. space based capabilities. The ideal candidate will have an exceptional degree of ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness with the ability to apply and/or develop highly advanced technologies, scientific principles, theories and concepts, as well as streamlined program management processes necessary to deliver integrated space systems on go-fast contracts for various customers.


The candidate will be responsible for the successful delivery of smallsat integrations programs to customers such as USSF, SDA, AFRL, NASA, NOAA, SMDC, and other commercial satellite operators and service providers. Responsible for overall execution and delivery by managing and integrating activities in accordance with contract requirements to ensure technical, schedule, and financial performance. Define the program baseline and then execute the program to comply with baseline requirements. Manage risk, customer relationships, and program staffing. Ensure compliance with quality standards and escalate challenges to SAIC leadership.


Efforts include tactical and strategic planning and coordination to integrate multiple supporting projects into a comprehensive program. May serve as Program Oversight for other programs. Manages and integrates a large size program staff that includes subcontractors or suppliers; task or project leads; and complex workflows. Provides guidance, direction, and mentoring to the internal cross functional team. Develops complex processes, procedures, techniques, or tools for the program and the account. Requires extensive program management, systems engineering, and systems integration experience, including experience with earned value management and program planning.


Experience with space hardware development programs including complex schedule interactions and cost control is required.


The candidate will support business development.


INDEPENDENCE: Reviewed by senior management and assessed for long-term CG stability and growth. Interacts with senior management for all program and account matters. Negotiates and resolves complex conflicts, disputes, and deal-making.


PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT OF PROGRAM STAFF: Possesses senior leadership and management skills and provides coaching and mentoring to other PMs. Provides strategic vision to the team. Escalates and resolves complex program issues. Provides significant input on performance reviews, compensation-related actions, and staffing and hiring decisions. Primary interface for screening and interviewing potential hires. Resolves complex personnel issues in coordination with HR.


BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT: Develops or significantly contributes to strategic BD plans to expand current account offerings. Plays lead role in developing or executing both competitive new business and re-compete capture plan. Identifies potential buying agents and selling opportunities beyond current account and future related accounts. Identifies opportunity and account buying influences. Recommends specific investment areas and identifies required resources and tools needed for repeatable and differentiated offerings and capabilities.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Program Director position will be responsible for a newly formed program under the Space and Mission Systems in the Civil and Commercial space operation.

  • This position requires experience in a technical engineering background running space hardware development, working with customers to understand requirements and develop efficient internal processes to match, and building teams to conduct systems engineering, development and integration.

  • The chosen Candidate must have a significant understanding of the facilities, bus, payload, power, propulsion, communications, launch and many other aspects of delivering a space system.

  • Experience developing technical and business strategies, conducting business development, pursuing new business and developing associated proposals.

  • Experience working commercial space efforts to include Tranche 0

  • Must have a Secret Security clearance



Target salary range: More than $225,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
