Salary Range: $80,414 - $170,179. Final compensation will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to your skills, experience, education, and/or certifications.

Synaptech is looking for talented, innovative software engineers to join our dynamic Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis software team!

What you will do at Synaptech:

• Design and implement simulation software and physics-based models of existing and future space, terrestrial, air, and maritime systems to support a wargaming application for space warfighters.
• Work with a team of space domain experts, astrophysicists, aerospace engineers, UX design experts, and other talented software engineers to create the next generation of software tools for space warfighters and operational analysts.
• Write software applications and perform analysis that influences the development of the next generation of US space assets across multiple domains including Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR), communications, missile warning, navigation, and more.
• Explore and experiment with new software development technologies and programming languages to spur innovation and develop entirely new applications and features!

Must have:

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 3 - 12 years of professional software development experience or master’s degree in a STEM field with 1 - 10 years of professional software development experience.
• Solid understanding of and work experience employing modern programming languages (Python, Java, C++, JavaScript, etc.).
• Experience developing physics-based models and integrating models into discrete time and/or discrete event simulation engines.
• Agile software development experience, with the ability to develop features both collaboratively and on your own with minimal supervision.
• Ability to see both the big picture and details of software architectures and anticipate and facilitate architectural changes over the full software lifecycle.
• Growth mindset and willingness to continually learn and apply new technologies.
• Possess or be able to attain a U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance.
• U.S. Citizenship

Nice to have:

• B.S. and/or M.S. in Computer Science or related field
• Space domain experience
• Experience developing microservices, REST APIs, and software libraries
• Experience integrating software applications through APIs and microservices
• Experience with full-stack web development technologies, including Java EE, JSP, and/or JavaScript/HTML/CSS
• Development experience with C, C++, and/or C#
• Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD) and writing unit tests, integration tests, and system tests to achieve high code coverage within a CI/CD pipeline
• Experience working with large data sets through databases, JSON, and XML, and developing analytical software to process and present the data
• Proficiency in NoSQL database design, maintenance, and operations (MongoDB is a plus)
• Experience in container-based deployment using Docker
• Experience as an agile Scrum Master or Product Owner
• Software team leadership experience

Security Clearance Requirements:

• Preferred – TS/SCI
• Nice to Have – Secret
• Acceptable – Ability to obtain a security clearance
