As a Software Engineer at Berkley Technology Services (BTS), you’ll support the continued development of a .NET based policy administration platform that is geared towards the market-booming, non-admitted insurance products across W.R. Berkley Corporation. These products aren’t out of the box; nor will be the solutions you’ll guide your team in building and integrating into our billing, premium audit, claims, and workflow applications, among others. On our team, you’ll be both leader and developer. You’ll partner closely with the operating units leveraging our application suite to learn the intricacies of their businesses. And you’ll work other developers and analysts on your team to leverage that insight as you translate complex business needs into innovative software solutions encompassing a mix of functionality and process enhancements along with new APIs or applications.

This position will be providing overall requirements gathering, design, development and support of one or more company applications for the various subsidiaries of the corporation.
Working on a team of developers to enhance our software product by increasing and optimizing UI functionality, developing automated solutions, and supporting integrations between our platform and other enterprise applications- Partnering with various operating units to understand their software requirements; lead and engage in the design and development efforts for software enhancements, new APIs and/optimized functionality requests
- Designing and building new processes into our application suite, including planning for and carrying out integrations between this platform and other systems enterprise-wide
- Partnering with the business and peer technical teams to on-board new operating units onto our application stack
- Actively engaging in design and solution architecture for software solutions that will both address and scale to support evolving business needs
- Travel for this position is approximately 5-10%.
- 5+ years of development experience within the .NET ecosystem (C#, ASP.NET, Web Forms, MVC, SQL Server)
- 5+ years of experience with web-based technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Web Services
- Familiarity and comfort with standard object-oriented development principles such as SOLID
- Knowledge of domain driven development and/or CQRS architecture is a plus
- Demonstrated experience working within Agile/Scrum teams utilizing Jira, Confluence, Trello or related tools
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline; experience can substitute for education
