Job Summary

The Wakeman Agency is seeking a collaborative and strategic-minded communicator, who is passionate about social justice, to join us as an Account Executive (AE). The AE will be responsible for leading engagements with nonprofit clients in an agency setting.

The AE must have relevant experience developing and executing successful PR programs. This position demands an understanding of the changing media landscape and a willingness to be flexible and adaptable to change. Based on the nature of our work, our environment is fast-paced and one where competing priorities are often present. This is a remote position. It requires excellent and regular communication with team members and clients.

The AE has strong leadership and organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks on an ongoing basis. This function plays a critical role in building trust with clients as both advisor and implementer and ensuring that high-quality and accurate work is completed on time.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of public relations projects
  • Develop communication plans, including strategies, tactics, media outreach, and timelines to serve as the roadmap for client engagements
  • Work with the Media Relations Specialist to identify media opportunities
  • Provide guidance and leadership to junior-level staff, including interns
  • Prepare rapid response materials to emerging news such as statements and commentary on behalf of clients
  • Participate in team huddles and brainstorming sessions to develop communications strategies and ideas
  • Stay abreast of the advancement of emerging issues and policy shifts and how they impact the mission-driven organizations we serve
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with clients and stakeholders, including the media
  • Organize and lead client meetings
  • Manage monthly reporting for account portfolio

Requirements:

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate big-picture ideas into action
  • Understanding of the nonprofit landscape and current social issues
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, confident style of communicating with media and clients, and a proven ability to effectively organize and manage multiple tasks
  • A positive, professional, and flexible attitude that lends itself to superior service
  • Comfortable and artful at managing client expectations
  • Self-starter who is able to take on assignments and deliver results
  • Proficient with Asana or other project management tools
  • Mastery of the Google suite
  • Familiarity with Cision, Meltwater, or similar tools.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • A minimum of seven years of paid experience in an AE or comparable role in an agency setting

This is a full-time position with eligibility for benefits including paid vacation and holidays, paid sick leave, health insurance, and retirement savings. Salary is within the range of $80,000 – $95,000 Qualified candidates expressing interest in this position in a part-time or consulting capacity will also be considered.
