SNOWMAKER / MT OPS LABORER Job at Windham Mountain
Overview of Position: Reporting to the Snow Surfaces Manager, Snowmakers are responsible for the overall snowmaking operations here at Windham Mountain. In the summer, Mountain Ops Laborers are responsible for completing Mountain Ops projects as assigned, both individual and team-based, such as grounds maintenance, trail maintenance, mowing on mountain terrain, weed eating and other maintenance projects. Snowmaking and summer Mountain Ops Labor work is physically and mentally demanding. In winter, the snowmaking system uses compressed air and pressurized water, which must be handled with the utmost respect and caution. Snowmaking guns, hoses, hydrants, pipes, and electrical lines make up our system at Windham Mountain. As a snowmaker/laborer you are responsible for providing an Above & Beyond snow product and experience for our guests and employees.
Job Duties: The list below best represents many tasks you will be asked to perform at some time during your employment here at Windham Mountain. We cannot predict all the challenges that we many face in providing an Above & Beyond product our guests expect, so these duties and responsibilities may change as needed.
Winter:
- Responsible for opening and closing valves in order to make gun adjustments and relocating of guns. Two-way radios are provided for this purpose.
- Move, unbury, thaw and repair snow guns, hydrants, and hoses as necessary.
- Check snow quality and adjust snow guns accordingly.
- Working at night and riding of lifts is necessary.
- Operation of ATVs and snowmobiles to move around the mountain trails may be required.
- Contribute to a cooperative work atmosphere.
- Must wear required PPE including helmets, safety goggles and ear plugs.
Summer:
- Digging, shoveling and raking,
- Sweeping,
- Cutting wood and light carpentry,
- Cutting grass (using riding and push mowers) and cleaning up leaves,
- Edging and weed eating.
Job Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Must be in good physical health.
- Must have the ability to regularly lift and maneuver 60 pounds.
- Must have the ability to follow instructions both written and verbal.
- Must be able to handle a constantly changing environment.
- Must be willing to learn.
- Must possess basic mechanical ability.
- Must be responsible, prompt and reliable.
