JOB SUMMARY:
The Sex Offender Registrar ensures sex offenders within unincorporated Mesa County fulfill their duty to register. The Registrar maintains files, registrations, regularly scheduled appointments, and address verifications to ensure compliance amongst offenders living in the community and housed in the Detention Facility. The Sex Offender Registrar is responsible for completing all listed essential job functions. The Major Offender Task Force provides assistance to the SOR with completing address verifications and inmate verifications.

Essential Duties

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Meets with and processes sex offenders within the jurisdiction of Mesa County to include the Mesa County Detention facility, ensuring proper registration files are obtained/maintained.

Enters sex offender information into required agency/state/national databases.

Updates/maintains Mesa County sex offenders on Mesa County Unified sex offender website.

Identifies sex offender registration violations to be assigned to a deputy for further investigation.

Composes, reviews, finalizes and files administrative paperwork/reports as required.

Prepares warrants and other legal documents in regard to sex offenders.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively using written and verbal skills.

Prepares for and testifies effectively in court proceedings.

Maintains the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive information obtained or reviewed.

Collaborates with other sex offender registrars within Colorado to accurately track sex offenders.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent

Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job.

Must possess a valid Colorado driver’s license or have the ability to obtain one at time of hire.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

This position requires standing, stooping, sitting, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 100 pounds.

May be subject to dangerous situations and/or individuals.

May be exposed to communicable diseases, infections, blood and bodily fluids.

Work is generally Monday-Friday dayshift hours.
