Overview:
Under general supervision, inventories and stocks par level location and medical supply carts; issues supplies and equipment; transports supply to/from the storeroom area; assists with shipping and receiving activities; maintains inventory records of supply issues; performs physical count of storeroom inventories.


This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of AHMC San Gabriel Valley Medical Center. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with the core values of AHMC-SGVMC. The employee shall support AHMC-San Gabriel Valley Medical Center’s strategic plan and goals and direction of the performance improvement plan. The employee will also be expected to support all organizational expectations including, but not limited to; Customer Service, Patient’s Rights, Confidentiality of Information, Environment of Care and AHMC-ARMC initiatives.
Responsibilities:
  • Consistently applies infection control policies/procedures.
  • Understands, practices, and teaches/instructs standard precautions for self and other in-patient care activities.
  • Understands, practices, and teaches/instructs others in-patient care activities about the appropriate disease-specific isolation.
  • Meets population specific competencies.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of all unit based competencies.
  • Completes all annual competency checklist and competency forms.
  • Attends department specific education/training/inservices, staff meetings.
  • Attends mandatory inservices/educational/training activities at least 90% of the time.
  • Provides for periodic structured training/inservice sessions throughout the year on a rotating basis.
  • Arranges for mini weekly inservices on a rotating basis or more frequently as your service requires for information, communication and continuing education.
  • Turns in all required paperwork on time.
  • Verifies by signature/initials attendance at staff meetings or reading of staff minutes at least 90% of the time.
  • Participates in department specific performance improvement activities.
  • Actively participates in unit P.I. monitoring.
  • Knows and understands acronym (PDSA) for units P.I. program.
  • Demonstrates understanding of performance improvement principals in job performance.
  • Identifies and demonstrates role in P.I. program.
  • Complies with department quality control/assurances as requested.
  • Assembles kits/ packs/ trays per inventory list.
  • Ensures all supplies are within date and documents” expiration” clearly on each kit/ set.
  • Follow “recipe”.
  • Fills orders of supplies and equipment accurately and timely.
  • Par location and special orders are replenished in F.I.F.O. order and all with in date.
  • As appropriate, utilizes patient charge labels.
  • Documents items on log as issued.
  • Inventories and replenished supplies in CS from bulk as needed.
  • Inspects supplies/ deliveries for damage.
  • Stock shelves utilizing F.I.F.O. and rotation policies.
  • Keeps area clean and orderly.
  • Operates manual equipment such as dolly, cart, and pallet jack safely.
  • Picks supplies for carts accurately and mindful of expiration dates.
  • Completes cart list inventory form document with expiration dates noted.
  • Pull the correct item via description and manufacture number.
  • Rotates materials and performs cycle counts as needed.
  • Properly operates computer and tablet.
  • Reports all problems to management as needed (i.e. out of stock inventory zero balance).
  • Takes initiative to report issues such as out of stock, increased usage in areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Demonstrated experience and knowledge of medical terminology, equipment and supplies, stocking, rotation practices, receiving functions, and par level supply systems.

Effective communication skills, math aptitude

Ability to use a PC and tablet.

Computer experience preferred

Ability to work in a collaborative environment that results in a high performance work team

Current CA driver’s license preferred; driver’s license and insurability will be verified upon assignment of driving hospital vehicle.
