Job Summary: The Senior Systems Test Engineer for Mobile Applications is responsible for the technical planning, coordination, conduct, and execution of mobile test activities at the system level across multiple complex projects. The incumbent will work with multiple internal engineering teams to develop system requirements analysis, system configuration data, and automated and/or manual test cases to ensure system performance and reliability standards are designed in and verified. The incumbent will work directly with external partner phone operating system developers and testers to coordinate our application testing and will drive design, development, and test activities from the system requirements view. Additional duties include the implementation of tools suitable for increasing the efficiency of system testing, developing and tracking system test metrics. This position typically works under general supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will exercise discretionary decision-making authority.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Works with engineering leads to develop system requirements and verifies compliance with performance and reliability standards.
  • Works closely with management to develop and coordinate system test concepts and objectives.
  • Assigns and delegate test activities to other test personnel and drive their day-to-day activities.
  • Develops test plans, cases, procedures, and reports.
  • Identifies test resources to meet scheduled dates. May develop and manage test budgets and schedules.
  • Prepares test status reports and presents status to management and customers.
  • Partners with Program Management to conduct the test readiness and post-test reviews.
  • Traces complex system requirements from customer specifications to test cases and validates requirements through test execution.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of the System Test Environment (STE).
  • Conducts integration and formal system tests.
  • Maintains the test requirements database.
  • Provides technical guidance, mentoring, and training to junior test personnel.
  • Keeps abreast of improvements in system test engineering techniques.
  • Interfaces with customers, contractors, and vendors.
  • May evaluate third-party or vendor capabilities to provide required products or services.
  • Interfaces with hardware, software, and systems engineers to evaluate test alternatives.
  • Interfaces with the QA organization to perform any corrective actions resulting from reviews and audits.
  • Identifies and documents defects defines severity and priority, and assists with triaging and investigating issues.
  • Drives and implements improvement to testing efficiency, quality, and effectiveness.
  • Interfaces with customer representatives throughout the product or program lifecycle.
  • Performs other system test engineering duties as required to meet contractual requirements.
Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Four-year college degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, or other related technical discipline.
  • Five (5)+ years of experience, or a Master of Science degree plus three years of experience.
  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to analyze complex problems and multi-task.
  • Must be detail-oriented, analytical, and a creative thinker with a passion for quality and testing.
  • Must be able to work with other testers and engineers inside the company and at partner companies.
  • Requires knowledge of system test engineering and specifically knowledge in testing apps on Apple iOS and Android mobile operating systems.
  • Requires knowledge of mobile payment systems and digital wallets.
  • Understanding of API testing with SOAP and REST.
  • Experience with test processes, open source test frameworks, test design strategies, writing test cases, and automating tests in Java with frameworks like JUnit/TestNG, Selenium, JMeter, and Appium preferred.
  • Experience with Jenkins or other continuous integration systems is desired.
  • Experience with tools & applications (TestRail JIRA, Confluence, BitBucket, Git, and Artifactory/Maven) preferred.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills are required.
  • Ability to use typical PC software such as word processors, databases, flowcharts, project schedulers, and spreadsheets.
  • Must have the ability to analyze and test complex engineering software, and be able to prioritize and conduct multiple tasks under deadline and budget constraints.
  • Use of standard hand tools, and special and general-purpose test equipment.
  • Domestic Travel may be necessary to perform on-site testing.
  • Demonstrate people-oriented leadership expertise and practices.
  • Must be able to spend long periods of time working at a computer terminal.
  • May require standing for prolonged periods of time.

Additional Information
(San Diego only***) Targeted full-time [salary/hourly] range between $116,799 - $147,268 + benefits.
