As part of a diverse and hardworking team of specialists, you will help design and analyze turbomachinery components for rocket engines that meet Blue Origin’s launch vehicle program requirements for various spaceflight systems. You will have a direct impact on the structural integrity of engine turbo-pumps by assessing a variety of failure modes including strength, fatigue, and fracture through methods such as hand calculations and detailed finite element models (FEM). You will also use structural analysis to support test and failure investigations, improve existing analytical methods, and optimize the design.

Qualifications:
- Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
- 2+ years of experience in structural analysis of turbomachinery components
- Experience with non-linear modeling techniques, including non-linear material and contact methods
- Experience with modal analysis and frequency prediction
- Experience with fatigue and fracture analysis
- Ability to work effectively in teams
- Ability to be self-directed and balance several tasks at one time
- Ability to communicate analysis results effectively
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Desired:
- Knowledge of ANSYS Mechanical strongly desired
- Knowledge of at least one programming/scripting language (Python/MATLAB/etc.)
- Experience with other turbomachinery aspects such as fracture mechanics, forced response analysis and damping
