The Senior Childcare Specialist (SCS) will be responsible for planning and implementing a program to care for young children (ages 0 to 5) with the assistance of Clinical Supervisor. Oversight of individual, group, and staff facilitated programming and activities, which are intellectually stimulating and foster self-reliance and social responsibility. SCS will oversee the work and job responsibilities of teachers' aides. They must ensure the development and safety of these children in accordance with relevant federal, territorial and Band legislation and policies. The SCS will be respectful of children and parents, and ensure that equipment and facilities are clean, safe and well maintained.

KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1) Create and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum for client's children spanning in age from birth to five-years-old.
2) Utilize a strengths-based, trauma focused, gender responsive, and culturally competent lens in all interactions with clients, children, and staff.
3) Develop a nurturing space for children and mothers to learn and grow.
4) Possess the skills needed to generate lesson plans aimed to develop: cognitive, social, emotional, speech and language, intellectual, and gross and fine motor skills.
5) Evaluate each child's development and identify strengths and areas needing support (i.e.: language delays, infant mental health concerns).
6) Develop individualized programming to meet each child's needs.
7) Partner with mothers to bolster their parental self-efficacy and increase mastery of parenting skills.
8) Assess the mother-child dynamic and facilitate interventions to enhance attachment and attunement.
9) Assist with classroom setup and design to ensure the environment supports exploration, creativity, and development.
10) Ensure accurate attendance records are maintained.
11) Work cooperatively as a member of the Child Development team.
12) Maintain cleanliness and safety of the Child Development Center.
13) Provide daily care and support for children (i.e.: feeding, diapering, playing).
14) Monitor daily activities, behavior, and emotional experiences of each child.
15) Enter all observations and information into an online database.
16) Complete incident reports as needed and as well report to clinical supervisor or other management staff on duty.
17) Support children who struggle with separation and may have experienced complex traumatic stressors.
18) Ensure children are monitored for signs of child abuse or maltreatment and reports of incidents must be given to the appropriate authorities.
19) Review daily progress reports from Teacher's Aides, and provide guidance as needed.
20) Carry out all duties assigned to Mandated Reporters and report any signs of child abuse or maltreatment to the appropriate authorities.
21) Facilitate support groups and participate in therapeutic groups (i.e.: Mommy-and-Me) with clients (and their children, if appropriate).
22) Participate in ongoing staff trainings and professional development.
23) Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS:
1) Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field required.
2) Must be passionate about infant mental health, the parent-child relationship, and child development.
3) Provide opportunity for positive parent-teacher communication.
4) Able to develop and implement curriculum for the children who reside with their mothers at Green hope Services for Women, Inc.
5) Experience working with children and parents with disabilities.
6) Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
7) Maintain confidentiality of mothers and their children.
8) Be open-minded, positive, energetic, and fun!
9) Must be able to work some evenings.
10) Experience working with birth to 5 year olds required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 per hour
