Department Overview
Corporate Accounting provides accurate and timely delivery of company’s consolidated financial statements, variance analyses, account reconciliations, and other analyses that support the filing of Forms 10Q and 10K. Position Summary
We are seeking an initiative-taking, capable Senior Accounting Analyst to take the lead on managing assigned general ledger accounts and billing system projects for Corporate Accounting. This role will work closely with various key business partners in Customer Care, Regulatory, IT and other departments to ensure invoices are appropriately accounted for in the billing systems in accordance with approved federal and state regulatory Decisions.
The successful candidate will be highly analytical, detailed oriented with strong interpersonal and communication skills to complete the accounting operations and collaborate with business partners to research and resolve issues. The Senior Accounting Analyst will thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and is self-motivated to learn and takes ownership of assigned responsibilities and projects.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.
PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
The hourly rate for this position ranges from $38.94 to $58.17
Job Responsibilities
Month-end Close: Participates in the month-end closing process including journal entry preparation Prepares monthly account reconciliations, including communications with appropriate internal and external business partners to understand and resolve reconciling items Prepares monthly variance analysis Assists in the preparation of supporting documentation for the 10Q / 10K reporting Analyzes accounting transactions and records the resulting accounting entries Identifies issues, proposes solutions, and documents conclusions with minimal supervision Manages communication with external parties (e.g., Deloitte) and addresses inquiries.
System Implementation (Billing Systems, Revenue Balancing & Reporting): Participates in various billing and revenue reporting system projects Works with IT business partner to ensure the functional design and business requirements meet the accounting and regulatory needs Review IT test plans for alignment with accounting requirements and expected results Performs User Acceptance Testing (UAT), as needed
Other:
Analyze business transactions and recognize financial impacts
Proactively communicates issues and key activities to management Identifies process improvements to reduce risk and create efficiencies during account review Assists in the implementation of process improvement initiatives undertaken by the department Document standard operating procedures for routine processes to improve quality consistency
Qualifications
Minimum:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, or equivalent work experience
4 years of recent relevant accounting experience
Desired:
Project management skills
Revenue recognition accounting knowledge
Billing System knowledge
