Skowhegan Savings Bank seeks an individual to join our Accounting Team as a Senior Accountant. This is a full-time, on-site position located in Skowhegan, ME.

Position Summary:

The Senior Accountant will assist the Controller in the daily operation of the accounting department. This position will serve as back-up to the Accounting Clerk II position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the reconciliation of a variety of general ledger accounts as assigned by the Controller. Compiles and prepares end of month book of GL reconciliations.
• Maintains monthly investment schedule and related duties including posting and reconciliation.
• Tracks, balances and posts monthly prepaid and accrued expenses. Enters new fixed assets into the bank’s fixed asset system.
• Assist the Controller with the Call Report preparation.
• Responsible for the accounting department’s record retention system.
• Responsible for the operation of the Fedline terminal.
• Maintains a chart of employee expense, wire transfers and check signing authority.
• Assists on special projects or year-end processes as assigned.
• Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• 2 -5 plus years of experience and/or training in an accounting department.
