Senior Accountant

We are adding a passionate Senior Accountant to our Chicago team in their fast growing, dynamic finance and accounting department.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Responsible for the completion of full-cycle accounting, including AP, AR, cash and sales reconciliations, pre-paid and fixed asset schedules, amortization and accruals, for the business unit assigned to you.
  • Follow a monthly/quarterly close schedule that requires tasks to be completed in a timely manner under strict deadlines to ensure the Company successfully issues it Financial Statements in a timely manner.
  • Maintain support schedules with an eye on recognizing opportunities to gain efficiencies in current processes.
  • Assist in various compliance requirements such as sales and cultivation tax returns.
  • Liaise with business unit leaders to reconcile, research and resolve various accounting items.
  • Analyze variances in budget to actual reporting, and report on such on a regular basis.
  • Support the year end audit and tax process.
  • Manage ad hoc projects assigned by the Controller.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting. CPA or active CPA candidate.
  • 4+ years of proven progressive accounting experience, with the ability to articulate the actions you have taken to build your skill set.
  • Advanced Excel and data management skills (including pivot tables and Vlookups), and ability to provide examples of such.
  • Experience with an ERP (ideally Microsoft Navision) with knowledge of data structure and reporting capabilities of the system.
  • Understanding of the consolidation process for a multi-entity business with various entity and ownership structures.
  • Comfortable with, and the desire to, work in an environment that is fast growing and changing as the Company moves towards the next chapter in its business.
  • Ability to operate with a high-level of professionalism and integrity, including dealing with confidential information.
  • This position requires occasional overtime to meet reporting deadlines, and 2 days in office per week.
