POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for supervising, training and reviewing the work of assigned Staff accountant(s). The Senior Accountant performs Income Statement analysis and a monthly presentation of their centers’ financial results to a member of management. The Senior Accountant will research and assist with surgery center work paper analysis while monitoring, and if needed, implementing change to ensure best practices are being followed. This position may also provide the opportunity to participate in various special projects and financial analyses.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• All accounting tasks for assigned company including monthly financial reports
• Responsible for Consolidated Financial reports for assigned company
• Maintain & prepare reconciliations for assigned company
• Maintain & reconcile assigned company Intercompany balances
• Assigned company liaison with financial reporting & enterprise accounting
• Supervise & review work of Staff Accountant
• Supervise Staff Accountant with regards to technical issues
• Train Staff Accountants in all aspects of accounting responsibilities for surgery centers
• Monthly Income Statement trend analysis and other preparation for review of surgery centers’ financial reports with a member of management
• Research and assist with assigned company work paper and reconciliation analysis
• Monitor assigned company compliance with accounting controls and policies and correct inappropriate practices
• Perform miscellaneous financial analyses
• Special projects as needed

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Knowledge of accounting software and Windows based spreadsheet/word processing package required. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting. At least 3 years in public accounting and/or accounting industry experience. Previous supervisory and/or healthcare experience is also a plus, but not required.
