Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Primary Teacher, the Secondary Teacher assists in carrying out the prescribed program of providing enriched experiences for children enrolled in the Early Childhood Development Program.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the development an implementation of lesson plans that will meet the needs of the children and reviews them with the Primary Teacher and Family Service Worker/Center Supervisor before presentation to the class.
• Requisition teaching supplies and shares in the planning for permanent equipment.
• Provides controlled perceptive supervision to the children under her care and extends warmth and acceptance to them.
• Recognize individual needs and developmental stages and makes appropriate adjustments in the program.
• Provide full well-rounded and varied group of experiences for the children under his/her care.
• Participate actively and appropriately in staff and parent meetings, conference with the Primary Teacher and Family Service Worker/Center Supervisor.
• Work with Primary Teacher and Caseworker in planning for individual children in his/her group who have special needs.
• Assist during meals and snacks and uses meal times as continued instructional time while eating with children.

Minimum Requirements of the Position

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent
• Must have current Child Development Achievement certificate
• Must have experience in Child Care field
• Must possess a valid first aid and CPR certification
• Must be a US citizen; have a Permanent Resident Card, or an alien Registration Receipt Card (Form I-551)
• Must have and maintain a clean driving record (NOT TO EXCEED 6 PTS)
• Must have and maintain a criminal history absent of convictions for violent crimes or for any crime against children.
