POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for the development and coordination of a collaborative school-based mental health wellness system at an identified school site, serving a diverse group of primarily Latinx and African American students. Provides multi-tiered interventions designed to support students, their families, and their teachers as they transition back to in-person learning. Creates universal prevention strategies, social-emotional wellness campaigns and interventions. Implements practices that target the entire population of a school to promote and enhance wellness by increasing social, emotional, and behavioral skills. Enhances the capacity of the school to design and implement protocols for the early identification, intervention, referral, and follow up of social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health concerns. Conducts behavioral health assessments and treatment plans. Provides individual and group counseling. Collaborates with school personnel to create a school environment that is warm, welcoming, inclusive, and conducive to healthy academic and personal growth & development.

Requirments:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in psychology, counseling, social work, or related field required.
  • Experience working with a diverse population in a social service setting.
  • Experience working with multi-ethnic populations.
  • Three years of experience in the mental health or substance use field preferred.
  • Experience working in school setting preferred.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Valid Illinois Driver’s License, insured car and good driving record.
  • Must have daily use of a car, current insurance, valid driver’s license, and a driving record acceptable to agency insurance carrier.
  • Flexibility to work on weekends, evenings, holidays during emergencies when assigned to the rotating emergency cellular.
