What is a Certified Medical Assistant?
Balancing clinical and administrative duties, a Certified Medical Assistant:
- is a member of the healthcare delivery team who works directly with patients throughout their visit to a health center;
- performs delegated clinical duties within the supervising physician’s scope of practice including- taking medical histories, vital signs, collecting and preparing lab specimens;
- administration of injections, EKGs, and assisting during patient procedures and examinations;
- works within the Electronic Health Record to document patient data, reconcile past medical information, document billing charges according to procedures performed, etc.;
- assists patients with questions about appointments and procedures;
- communicates with all members of the healthcare team to address patient questions or concerns.
What is a Certified Dental Assistant?
Balancing clinical and administrative duties, a DA:
- works with Dentist assisting with fillings, crowns, bridges, extractions, and dentures;
- takes blood pressures, reviews medical history, and takes x-rays (when certified);
- readies the room for procedures and disinfects the room when procedures are complete;
- disinfects and sterilizes dental instruments and equipment;
- educates patient on oral hygiene techniques, disease prevention, and instructions for care after dental procedures.
How the program works?
- Submit an application for employment.
- Applicants selected for employment (full-time or part-time) will have the ability to submit a request to participate in the scholarship program.
- Employee's performance must be in good standing with CCHS to participate in the program.
- Upon selection, CCHS will pay tuition expenses directly to the educational institution and a one time exam fee.
- Following successful completion of the program and passing certification exam, employee will advance in their career.
