RN needed for a contract position in Alcohol and Drug Detox Unit at an Inpatient Community Center. which offers a continuum of services for people dealing with substance abuse disorders.

Summary:

Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in an Inpatient setting. Responsibilities:

1. Education - Participates in identifying and meeting the learning needs of self. Attends education programs based on identified learning needs. With assistance, uses patient education materials relevant to the patient population. Assesses readiness to learn of the patient/family/caregivers. Assesses the developmental level of the patient and factors affecting the ability to learn.

Essential functions of this job include, but are not limited to:

Identifies and prioritizes client care needs using client history and nursing assessment

Works within the nursing scope of practice.

Recognizes empathic opportunities and responds to clients empathically, communicating a desire to understand. Accurately collects and documents client use history.

Accurately assesses and documents withdrawal symptoms using CIWA and/or COWS and ASAM.

Works assigned area, covering detox and drop-in. Completes initial evaluations and assessments of patients seeking detox in an accurate and timely manner.

Provides referrals for additional services that may be needed prior to or in lieu of detox or drop-in. Provides resources and referrals as part of crisis intervention.

Works under the supervision of the Nursing Supervisor, and or Physician/Nurse Practitioner.

Signs off on LPN’s treatment plans at the time of admission.

QUALIFICATIONS: Registered Nurse with a valid New York License.

Two (2) years of nursing experience in chemical dependency services are preferred. Maintains the required licensure/certification in good standing. Must have a favorable attitude regarding the disease concept of addiction. Must have the ability to effectively work with other employees, outside contacts, and a diverse client population.

Schedule: RN-DETX 8 weeks, 8 hour DAY shift: 7am - 3pm
