Practice Revenue Cycle Manager - Stony Brook OBGYN Associates, UFPC

Location: Stony Brook, NY

Schedule: Full Time

Days/Hours: Monday to Friday - 8:30am-5:00pm

Responsibilities:
SUMMARY: As the Department’s subject matter expert on billing/coding/documentation, the Manager/Director of Revenue Cycle will lead efforts to ensure accurate, appropriate, timely submission of claims; regularly provide education to providers and staff on correct coding and documentation; analyze payer trends; oversee day-today operations of billing and coding staff; and support operational initiatives supporting opportunities for continued financial strength.

Job Duties & Essential Functions:
  • Oversee billing, coding and ambulatory authorization team for large academic clinical department and aligned community physicians ensuring that claims are reviewed for accuracy, are compliant with best coding practices and submitted timely
  • Identify trends causing delays in claims submission and share information with key stake holders
  • Prepare and present updated correct coding and documentation requirements to providers at regular intervals
  • Liaison with Central Billing Office and Compliance Office to implement correct coding and or insurance specific claim edits that team will review/correct/release in timely manner
  • Identify opportunities to enhance documentation
  • Act as a resource with regards to coding policies and procedures to both staff and providers
  • Prepare reports related to fiscal, operational, or patient care issues as directed by Department Administrator.
Qualifications:
Required Education and Qualifications:
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Coding Specialist – Physician Based (CCS-P) certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare or related field;
  • 5+ years of experience as manager responsible for billing, coding, and revenue cycle.
  • Ability to communicate with multiple stakeholders across the organization in a professional manner, including Physicians, Clinicians, Managers and Division Chiefs
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, and attention to detail
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrated proficiency of healthcare EMR/Practice Management system – Cerner and Centricity preferred
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with patients, staff and medical providers. The employee must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. This position is largely sedentary and requires the employee to remain stationary for a majority of the day. Any additional physical demands will be outlined and provided by management. The responsibilities and tasks outlined in this job description are not exhaustive and may change as determined by the needs of CPMP.
