Responsibilities:
- Commitment to a holistic approach to health care that values the person choosing our supports
- Is a strong advocate for people supported, and assists in educating families which is important in their making informed medical decisions
- Annual comprehensive nursing assessments and medical assessments for acute and chronic medical concerns of a person supported
- Collaborates with other clinical team members to ensure optimal medical care and quality of life for people supported
- Medical oversight of the direct support staff who are providing for the health care and safety needs of a person supported
- Provides ongoing education on health care topics, i.e. Exposure Control Plan, Infection Control, diabetes, medication administration, g-tubes, as well as other medical tasks, confidentiality, and medical progress notes with the direct support staff)
- Develops and Implements Nursing Service Plans for staff to follow
- Registered nurses can do some work remotely
