This Position is based in Tampa, Albany or Atlanta ONLY

The Regional Outreach Coordinator(ROC)is responsible for the promotion and facilitation of relationships between APHL, academic institutions, and public health laboratories . The Regional Outreach Coordinators will be APHL contracted employees assigned within state and local public health laboratory locations. This position reports directly to the Director, Experiential Learning and works collaboratively with staff in the Academic Partnerships, Fellowship, Internship, and Leadership programs and other members of the Training and Workforce Development (TWD) team.

Responsibilities:

  • Build partnerships with high school programs, 2-year and 4-year colleges and universities & graduate level programs.
  • Facilitate development of agreements with academic institutions including maintenance and tracking of agreements.
  • Collaborate with Manager, Academic Partnerships, APHL Instructional Designers and CDC leads to generate content about experiential learning activities to communicate to academic partners and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to Academic Partnership meetings, develop meeting agendas, meeting minutes, meeting evaluations and reports. Share updates to the Academic Partnerships email inbox.
  • Assist with the annual APHL Student Event other Public Health Lab events. Serve as an APHL staff liaison Support training and curriculum for fellows and interns placed at state and/or local Public Health Lab facilities
  • Serve as Public Health Lab regional training coordinator in host laboratories.
  • Support the Fellowships and Internships programs through full-cycle recruitment efforts.
  • Attend various virtual/in-person career fairs including science fairs and other related events to promote APHL Fellowship and Internship program
  • Update the Fellowship and Internship SharePoint sites, web pages and social media sites.
  • Track and maintains agreements between Public Health Labs locations and academic partners.
  • Ensure compliance with APHL branding and program packaging and marketing approaches.
  • Must be willing to up to 50% of the time

Must Haves:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science or Public Health or a related field
  • Two to five years of relevant on the job experience or advanced technical training or experience. An advanced degree may be considered in lieu of work experience.
  • Demonstrated success in providing students with the essential skills, knowledge, experiential learning experiences and technology to be successful.
  • Event planning and administration experience preferred.
  • Fluent in database administration/ data management experience preferred (e.g., Excel, AMS, Access, CMS and SharePoint).
  • Experience working in a secondary education or higher education institution preferred.
  • Proficient with Office 365 (Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook), Microsoft Teams, OneDrive and Zoom.
  • Knowledge of Internship and Fellowship programs.
  • Knowledge and experience using social media platforms.
  • Knowledge and experience in marketing and organizational promotion.
  • Knowledge of work processes in a healthcare related environment ideal
  • Knowledge of public health laboratory science programs, medical laboratory science programs, STEM (Science, Technology, Education, Mathematics) and STEAM (Science, Technology, Education, Art, Mathematics) programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail in organization.
  • Writing, report preparation, proofreading and copyediting skills.

  • Familiarity with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and academic program accreditation requirements such as the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS).
