Job Location: Leer South Mining Complex (Philippi, WV)

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:

Responsibilities include safety, operational, maintenance, environmental, and supervisory functions necessary for operating the refuse disposal area.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Implement all safety policies and procedures.
• Must be involved with our "STEEL" safety program by performing "Rivets" (observations) on co-workers and communicate the findings
• Supervise and provide direction to hourly association employees.
• Plan, organize, schedule and coordinate with Plant Manager all production/reclamation projects and with Maintenance Planner on all maintenance projects.
• Instruct employees in the proper performance of each task and advises them of any associated hazards.
• Perform pre-shift inspections, test and monitor employees responsible for performing safety checks and tests.
• Maintain the necessary records associated with refuse disposal functions.
• Monitor supplies to keep adequate amounts of materials on hand and stored in an orderly manner to preclude unnecessary loss of and damage to materials.
• Communicate to management and other shifts any changes in the status of refuse disposal operations, which may have potential impact on productivity.
• Assure performance standards are maintained.
• Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
• Assist Environmental engineer to comply with environmental compliance.
• Insure compaction and other protocols are met.
• Coordinate with engineering to ensure that the disposal plan is being followed.

MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High School diploma or GED preferred, 5+ years of surface experience required
• Supervisory experience preferred
• West Virginia Surface Certification preferred
• Advanced First Aid certification a plus
• Proven safety and attendance record
• Proven leadership ability
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent communication (written and oral) skills
