Southern California Medical Center is looking for a bilingual Referral Coordinator (Spanish & English Speaking) in our busy Van Nuys clinic.

The Referral Coordinator works with patients to arrange and schedule referral appointments, sends reminders, and provides patients with information about referral appointments.

The job requires sitting at the desk for long hours and use computer and telephone.

Job description:

  • Ensure current and standardized referral policies and workflows
  • Ensure complete demographic, insurance information and appropriate/pertaining clinical information is sent to referred specialists
  • Prioritize referral by their urgency and addresses them in a timely manner
  • Act as point of contact for patients and specialists for any questions or rising concerns. Assist in problem solving potential issues related to their referral due to language or social barriers.
  • Ensure that patient information is kept confidential at all times.
  • Follow up on referrals until completed or declined by patient.
  • Maintain safe, secure and healthy work environment.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Medical Assistant Certification preferred, but not required.

  • Bilingual: English and Spanish preferred, but not required.
