The Quality Engineer is responsible for the coordination and preparation of all quality planning activities for new programs and changes/improvements.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES:
The responsibilities and authorities for this position include, but are certainly not limited to:
Quality Planning – The responsibilities for planning include but are not limited to the following:
Control Plan (PQCT), FMEA, and Process Flow development as needed
Part validation and test plans, including PPAP protocol, as the position requires
Part requirement clarification (appearance, fit to vehicle, performance, etc.)
Incorporation of lessons learned
Assist in Operator training plans
Working with customers and Program Management on the above
Implementation (Do) of the planned quality activities including but not limited to:
Development of documentation to support the Control Plan including check sheets, test procedures, data record sheets etc.
Completion or outsourcing of testing to support program timelines
Submissions for appearance, IMDS, DVP&R, NMRs, AAR, etc. as needed
Development of launch instructions and inspector training
Development of operator work instructions including packaging instructions as required
Development of master and boundary samples as needed
Coordination of training to support the plan
Communication with Program Management and customer on the above
Checking on the output from the planned process including but not limited to:
Completion and analysis of test requirements, and may include ability to coordinate systems and alignment techniques
Control Plan and process audits at all pre-production run/builds
Verification of operator training and compliance to work instructions at all pre-production runs/builds
Run at Rate participation and evaluation
PPAP submissions with ability to determine actions from data reports
Reviewing and approving all related supplier part submissions/NMRs (New Model Reviews), AAR (Appearance Approval Reports)
Acting on discrepancies found during checks including:
Communication of performance or functional failures to production and Program Management as needed
Updating documentation related to checks or process/part changes
Complete data administration, as necessary
Responses to Paint Supplier and or customer concerns
Coordination and verification (under the direction of Program Management) on all engineering changes at their specific location.
Other responsibilities:
Promote an atmosphere of team work at all times
Ensure that a clean and safe work environment is always maintained
Assist in any way to any employee, necessary to promote a successful operation emphasizing customer satisfaction
Knowledge and ability to operate Romer 3D Lazer Sanner, interpret data & actions from reports (WP1), as needed
Knowledge and experience with GD&T, as needed
Continuous improvement activity involvement at the discretion of the Quality Manager
Involvement in problem solving related to customer issues and concerns
Train Quality Auditors on proper inspection techniques, record completion and other training areas
Assist in training of production operators along with the Quality Supervisor
Ensure personal and associate awareness and understanding of ISO 14001 and ISO/TS 16949 (includes ISO 9001) Standards, and company policies and procedures
During management system audit events provide evidence in support of conformance with applicable standards and procedures, and participate in corrective action activities as necessary
Complete any other duties as assigned
HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Quality Engineer is responsible for complying with the Company Health & Safety Program including Occupational Health & Safety Legislation, regulations, standards and Company Health & Safety policies. Reference: JDA-003 Worker/Supplied Labor Health & Safety Responsibilities (Addendum to Worker Job Descriptions).
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR DESIGNATION REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires the following minimum education qualifications:
Must possess a secondary school diploma or equivalent, with preference given to those who have completed some or all of a College level program including CQE.
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires the following minimum work experience qualifications:
Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience within manufacturing quality related area with preference give to those with 1-3 years of Quality Engineering experience.
Training, knowledge and work experience with Lazar Scanner, as position deems necessary (WP1)
Training, knowledge and experience with PPAP, GD&T, as position deems necessary (WP1)
Must have good communication skills, both written and verbal
Proven to be a leader in the areas of quality, productivity and team work
Basic computer skills; Excel, Word proficiency and preferably Access
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Understanding of expectations detailed through Organization Statements, Standards, Visions, Policies and Procedures (i.e. Mission, Values, Code of Conduct, Operational, Quality, and Environmental Health & Safety) as referenced in Employee Handbooks and communicated through Orientation and/or other training awareness opportunities
Additional training requirements may be identified based on plant-specific location (municipality/province/state/country) and/or operational needs that are commensurate with the duties, expectations and responsibilities of the role within the specific plant
Ability to perform well in high pressure situations
Possess sound financial and business insights
Meets expectation rating (rating score of 2 or 3) in all applicable Competencies as defined in the Performance Management Process.
Access to reliable transportation
Must be capable of performing the essential duties which include maximum safe lifts to the 75th percentile of the employee as determined by acceptable standards
Must be able to be a leader to all employees.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
