Quality Control Technician Job at Sandy Alexander
- Compare prepress files and/or plates to our output using bluelines, proofs, PDF files or client approvals.
- Confer with production coordinators and press supervisors to ascertain quality requirements. Understand client preferences as communicated by production coordinators, supervisors, and the customer on the OK sheet.
- Check each first pull press sheet for every version on every press against all available Blueline/Dylux proofs, color proofs and customer OKs.
- Check for print quality and color consistency make sure artwork is not blurry; logos are printing correctly and no missing type.
- Monitor running of office copies in web and sheetfed pressrooms when requested. Do readers on press when necessary.
- Assist press crews and supervisors to produce defect-free office copies and products.
- Communicate quality concerns and request a resolution from press lead or supervisor.
- Select defect-free office copies for jobs following the job instructions for quantity and quality requirements
- Prepare samples by hand when required - including folding, stitching, touching-up, gluing, sealing, etc. Shrink-wrap and pack samples for shipping in cartons or other specified packaging.
- Collect time pulls from the pressroom every day and maintain these sheets as required.
- Assist in inspecting finished product in plant, on-site at outside binderies and finishers, or at customers facilities, as needed.
- Assist in other departments when needed.
- Adhere to Sandy Alexander quality and environmental policies, procedures, goals, and objectives and comply with all safety and work rules when performing duties.
- Complete and maintain all required checklists, paperwork, records, documents, etc. and maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
