The Neil Jones Food Company is looking for a Quality Assurance Assistant at our Northwest Packing facility in Vancouver, WA. The Neil Jones Food Company processes superior quality, fresh packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. With headquarters in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 35 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.


Summary
: Responsible for assisting Quality Assurance Supervisor and Manager in the operation of the department.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviews internal documents/records for accuracy as required including USDA standards; may assign final grades for QA Manager review.
  • Assists manager in preparation of appropriate government documents.
  • Updates online customer information interface.
  • Inventories and ensures laboratory supplies and office supplies are available; sends out lab equipment for repair/calibration.
  • Prepares all binders, log books and office files.


Requirements
:

  • Associate’s degree in quality assurance or related field preferred; or, any combination of experience, education or training that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
  • Requires 1 year administrative experience and 2 years of related quality assurance or food manufacturing experience.
  • Skill in use of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Fundamental knowledge of quality assurance standards and protocols, USDA segregation procedures and protocols, Safe Quality Food (SQF) processes, document management and organization standards and processes, and ability to follow recordkeeping, documentation and retention standards.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and work extended hours and weekends during the fresh pack season, typically August – November.
