Job Title: Purchasing Manager

Department: Production

Location: Greensboro

Manage the performance of assigned suppliers and the development of appropriate programs with those suppliers that allow for the timely delivery of quality products and services in the most efficient and cost beneficial manner. The buyer is the primary resource for all plant Raw Material purchasing, indirect purchasing, cycle counting, and raw material inventory management. Must be able to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

  • Overall responsibility for all indirect purchasing
  • Overall responsibility for all raw material purchasing by utilizing MRP.
  • Responsibility for logistics of all incoming materials
  • Responsible for all raw material inventory
  • Responsible for cycle counts of all raw materials.
  • Responsible for warehousing of raw materials including offsite warehouses.
  • Work and communicate with production, shipping, and QA to ensure there is sufficient materials to make orders to meet the customer’s demand.
  • When necessary, work with R&D/Quality to identify alternate materials when there are supply issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all established policies and procedures.
  • Work with suppliers to negotiate the lowest costs while maintaining quality and delivery.
  • Work with A/P to resolve invoice discrepancies.
  • Responsible for Supply Chain KPIs that are established by Corporate.
  • Work with Corporate on Supplier Scorecards/feedback

Supervision Responsibilities:

  • Must give direction to all areas of the plant to insure process flow of incoming materials to satisfy production deadlines.
  • Responsible for managing 1-2 direct reports.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of purchasing/supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 4 – year Bachelor’s Degree; business, engineering, materials science or related field is preferred
  • Advanced computer skills in Word and Excel
  • Strong teamwork skills, be confident and adaptable, communicate and engaging, conflict resolution skills, and be able to work independently.
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of computerized order, order entry, planning, and inventory systems.
  • Desired skills in process management, financial analysis, and negotiations
  • Organizational and strong people skills
  • Worked with some type of MRP system.
  • QAD experience is a plus!

Work Requirements

  • Position requires physical ability to walk throughout the warehouse, stand on your feet for long periods of time to count and monitor raw materials.

Special Position Requirements

  • Travel required to various facilities in the company may be expected, travel anticipated is less than 10%.
  • Must be available for off-hour emergencies less than 10% of the time.

Pay: From $78,000.00 per year
