PURPOSE OF JOB:

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for procurement and planning of goods and services for R&D. Establish and foster relationships with suppliers, communicating, and negotiating with suppliers to ensure delivery schedules are met, best prices are obtained and in compliance with regulatory requirements and RAPT Therapeutics quality standards.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the design and maintenance of a best-in-class procurement framework in accordance with SOX controls and contribute to enhancing Company’s current processes.
  • Lead the procurement of pay software, Coupa, and perform companywide trainings on the platform.
  • Manage system, including entering and modifying purchase orders and vendor management.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance a working relationship with suppliers.
  • Partner closely with cross functional teams to understand the requirements across different areas and ensure business requirements are met by suppliers.
  • Drive cost efficiencies through negotiations, review of vendors and competitive pricing.
  • Work closely with Finance, Facilities, HR, IT, and R&D departments as needed.
  • Monitor the performance of suppliers, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements.
  • Transition purchasing in-house from third party consulting company.
  • Perform ad-hoc projects as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or related subjects and 5 years of experience in purchasing; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience with Coupa required.
  • Biotech or Life Science experience required.
  • Experience with NetSuite preferred but not required.
  • Proven negotiation skills with ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel and Outlook skills in particular.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to anticipate events, prioritize assignments, deal with interruptions, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and growth-oriented environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to work with interdepartmental teams.

CALIFORNIA PAY INFORMATION:

California law requires pay information in job postings. The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications, prior experience, and other relevant factors. The estimated annual pay range for this position is $135,800 (entry-level qualifications) to $156,100 (highly experienced).
