Our New Jersey investigation/remediation practice is growing, and we are looking for exceptional candidates to grow with us in our Parsippany office. With a diverse private and public sector client base, we are seeking a Project Geologist with outstanding technical capabilities who can help us advance our practices. Our project base includes complex site investigations, often coupled with the application of innovative site remediation technologies and human health and ecological risk assessment approaches.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage complex site investigation programs including preparing work plans, obtaining permits, coordinating subcontractors and vendors, regulatory agency interactions, and reporting.
  • Perform field work including collecting soil, soil vapor, and groundwater samples, remediation system operation and maintenance, and air quality monitoring.
  • Logging borings using ASTM and/or Unified Soil Classification System.
  • Scoping and delivering a variety of project assignments, including responsibility for resource allocation and budget and schedule management
  • Participate in industry organizations and develop relationships with potential clients.

The selected individual will report to senior personnel but will be expected to be able to work largely independently, while following Tetra Tech’s risk and quality management policies. At times, the selected individual may delegate assignments to junior personnel and be responsible for overseeing completion of tasks within budgetary, schedule, and other internal and external constraints.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Geology, Hydrogeology or Geotechnical Engineering.
  • A master’s degree in Geology is a plus.
  • 5 - 8+ years of direct relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and advancing environmental site conceptual models in complex geological settings.
  • Ability to develop and lead moderate size projects (including remedial investigations and feasibility studies), defining scope, objectives and methods.
  • Experience installing monitoring wells, both overburden and bedrock.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of geology, groundwater flow, contaminant fate and transport.
  • Experience developing and applying groundwater flow and contaminant transport models.
  • Experience with geophysical methods and geochemical studies and analysis.
  • Able to lead large low-flow groundwater sampling events.
  • Ability to lead a technical team and train and mentor more junior staff.
  • Proficient in assess/evaluating geologic data and associated report preparation.
  • Experienced in communicating with clients, regulators and the public.
  • This position requires successful completion of 40 hours of OSHA health and safety training for working with potentially contaminated materials (provided, as needed), annual 8-hour refresher courses, first aid training, CPR training, and annual medical monitoring.
  • The ability and willingness to perform fieldwork and travel are also required.
  • A valid driver's license and clean driving record is required for this position.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations.
