Opportunity

Under the direction of the General Supervisor-Electronics, the Project Engineer will be responsible for learning the production processes in assigned areas, and the completion of productivity, continuous improvement, and cost reduction projects in support of manufacturing. Responsibilities will also include implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles, introduction of new products, and the execution of capital projects within the Electronics departments. This position owns some of the processes in our circuit boards assembly focusing on SMT machines and is expected to assist with day-to-day issues/requests and ensure they are resolved in a timely manner to maintain focus on high quality products being delivered on-time to customers.


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Champion continuous improvement (KOS events/workshops) and cost reductions efforts in the circuit board and controller manufacturing area to constantly improve safety, quality, cost, and on-time delivery.
  • Implement Capital projects throughout department. Work closely with the manufacturing team, Marketing, and Design Engineering to determine the manufacturing needs for equipment and systems.
  • Coordinate introductions of new products to production. Work closely with Design Engineering, Marketing, and the production associates to effectively implement new products into production. Establish production routings for all new products and engineering specials.
  • Evaluate capacity requirements to ensure production capability of manufacturing new products and/or volume changes to current products.
  • Analyze operations and sequence of operations to assure full utilization and maximum quality from present equipment. Answer and respond to inquiries related to the assembly processes.
  • Maintain routings for operations required and set standards for areas of responsibility.
  • Monitor production builds. This involves working closely with Operators, Production Foreman, Supervisors, and Design Engineers to ensure productions problems are resolved.
  • Provide technical support and monitor critical processes in the department.
  • Provide required support for ISO 9001. Work closely with ISO coordinating team and production employees to ensure compliance to ISO 9001 standards. Follow procedures established for Manufacturing Engineering to execute design changes, implementation of procedures and reference documents, and all documented responsibilities of Process Engineering.
  • Monitor new technology advancements and the possible application within the department.

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program is required.
  • 1+ years of experience in electronic manufacturing including basic functional knowledge of all process areas, and quality/continuous improvement (DFM, PPR, OpsCert/PPAP).
  • Computer skills:Comfortable with hardware installation and software configuration.
    Training in Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, Lean manufacturing, and SPC are desired.
  • Strong communication skills, a sense of urgency, and a desire to make continuous improvements will be required.
