Role Overview

The Production Operator must be fully capable and willing to perform the duties and responsibilities of the following: A Operator, Utility Operator, Level 3 Operator, Level 2 Operator, Trailer Spotting as well as maintain safety, quality and efficiency of operations. The prodcution operator will also receive training and train others whenever is necessary to ensure the proper performance of his duties and observance of site policies and procedures.

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for operating the assigned process equipment to maintain the expected production amount, within the approved quality and required efficiency.
  • Responsible to follow all Plant Policies and all the safety procedures to ensure self-safety, colleagues and site installations.
  • Report on time and to the right designated person, any deviation noted during his operation shift in relation to process equipment operation, safety, quality and efficiency.
  • Fill out all the necessary reports related with his responsibilities.

Desicion making:

  • Authority to shutdown processes on a priority basis for the following reasons: shortage of manpower; health, safety and environmental reasons; weather or other emergencies; and due to mechanical or operational difficulties.
  • Responsibility for monitoring all direct aspects of chemical process production, by field observation and by control computer monitoring.
  • Must know details of chemical processes employed, associated hazards of chemical processes employed, and mechanical equipment utilized in assigned units.
  • Must take corrective and preventive actions to keep the chemical processes within acceptable control guidelines.
  • Must take readings and recognize abnormal conditions while performing daily routine tasks.

Dimensions:

  • The employee may be required to work a rotating shift schedule, alternating between “Days” and “Nights” on a frequent basis.
  • This schedule also requires being available for overtime during certain periods (either scheduled overtime, or being on call in case unscheduled overtime is required), working weekends, and holidays.
  • This position is required if necessary to eat their lunch in the control room.
  • Shift change of this position is conducted in the control room in order to pass on vital information regarding the operations.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment often exceeds 85 decibels.

Technical Managerial and Skills Required:

  • 3 year of minimum experience in a Chemical manufacturing Environment and at least 1 year of experience as a Production operator.
  • Must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Technical training (specialized training for operator or 2 years college) is desired. College studies should include sciences, e.g. chemistry, physics, engineering, and math.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems. Offer solutions or advice to quality problems.
  • Initiate & verify corrective actions as requested.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Individual past activities or work experience must indicate ability to organize, prioritize, and complete several multi-task assignments simultaneously.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders. May be required to perform this task several times during a day.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 55 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to perform work tasks while utilizing respiratory protective equipment (self-contained breathing apparatus).

Additonal Information:

  • Competitive salary; salary range of $24.00-$28.00/hourly. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
