Job Summary:

The Production Manager primary focus is to create an environment committed to safety and producing world class quality products. The Production Manager is committed to developing and following a plan that provides continuous improvement and team development. Primary functions include tactical production planning, administering key business processes including QMS, HSE, and following HR policies. Other responsibilities include providing on the floor leadership for the production teams. The Production Manager and team must have availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as the workload dictates.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure 100% performance for Safety and Health Safety Environment (HSE)
  • Lead application of 5S and other lean activities in the department to continuously improve the work environment, HSE and efficiency.
  • Ensure daily housekeeping and HSE activities are completed to maintain world class HSE standards.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance to the safety plan and all applicable safety standards.
  • Continuously improve safety through implementation of processes, audits, and trainings.
  • Administer tool management and preventive maintenance. Evaluate manufacturing equipment for safety and functionality, ensure tools are in proper working order and readily available for team members.
  • Ensure 100% Quality through the organization
  • Ensure the quality management system is applied in all stations, and continuous improvement processes are applied to consistently maximize the quality of the product.
  • Ensure that products and goods manufactured meet quality standards obtained in the industry.
  • Audit finished products to ensure quality to Bertram standards are met.
  • Ensure the process for damaged and defective goods and products are followed.
  • Lead, Manage and Develop
  • Lead the team towards organizational goals and participate in departmental planning.
  • Follow all management processes including maintaining appropriate forms and paperwork regarding employees.
  • Evaluate team performance and establish a team performance improvement plan. Lead implementation of the continuous improvement plan.
  • Deploy a consistent communication model to maximize the health of the organization.
  • Support departmental needs by developing and implementing trainings.
  • Establish and maintain departmental procedures, rules, plans and processes.
  • Own, lead and administer employee performance reviews, help set achievable, measurable, and realistic goals for leads and employees to follow.
  • Work in conjunction with Human Resources regarding personnel decisions including recruitment, promotions, and disciplinary actions including terminations.
  • Responsible for recruitment and development of the team.
  • Achieve 100% Schedule Attainment
  • Establish, in conjunction with Production Control and other leaders, a daily, weekly, and monthly production team plan.
  • Lead shift planning meetings to set the objective with team leaders and team members.
  • Lead weekly team performance reviews, review KPI’s for safety, quality, and delivery performance.
  • Recognize exemplary performance and identify action plans for improvement.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school diploma /GED required.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, with notable results in continuous improvement and creating a high performing organization.
  • Boat manufacturing or equivalent experience required.
  • Strong logic, critical thinking, strategic thinking, and reasoning skills to make independent decisions.
  • LEAN knowledge and expertise.
  • ISO or other relevant quality management system knowledge.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and other HSE requirements.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and related software
  • Acute attention to detail paramount.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication.
  • Demonstrate success in collaborating with teams in a professional manner.
  • Strong training, coaching and team development skills.
  • Ability to give clear and concise directions and objectives to others.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple duties/projects at one time.
  • Ability to lead large groups and maintain a positive working environment.
  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings etc.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
