Production Lead Position

Rate $24.85 per hour plus shift differential


The Production Lead Position will be an individual whose primary role will be managing the Converting or Corrugator Department in absences of a salaried supervisor. This will be an hourly position that will be part of either the Converting or Corrugator Department and will be used as a floating department manager in absence of a Supervisor, or even as a machine assistant or Operator in the event of an unpredicted absence in which overtime could not be found. Additionally, this person will be involved in many process improvement type projects that could cover all three shifts. The scope of this positions responsibility does not include discipline or attendance tracking. This position will also receive consistent leadership training while being exposed to and trained on various leadership operations within the plant.


Qualifications:

  • Ability to work on an as-needed basis: Lead and support production staff, drive productivity, communicated timekeeping and attendance to Supervisor; act as a liaison between production staff and management, ensure, promote quality and safety, manager waster during shift and department.
  • Strong Computer Skills
  • Ideally 2 years of experience or more as an Operator or Assistant
  • Existing knowledge of plant computer software (Kiwi, QMS, CWR, etc.)
  • Ability to take part in and provide valuable input during lead team and production meetings.
  • Team Oriented and Motivated
  • Flexible Schedule-positively respond to shift changes. Must possess the flexibility to work on off-shifts when required and with ample notice.
  • Positive attitude
  • Safety focused, accountable, plant role model
  • Strong Attendance
  • Responsible for managing good housekeeping practices during and at the end of the shift.

Work Ethics

  • Follow all International Paper work rules.
  • Need to have a high sense of urgency when a machine is down.
  • Show good communication skills with supervisors and co-workers.
  • Communicate with co-workers, operators and supervisors on a daily basis about concerns they may have.
  • Pass on information on problems encountered during the shift.
  • Communicate with fellow maintenance personnel on ideas, procedures, problems, etc…
  • Keep supervisors and operators informed of progress during a breakdown.
  • Be proactive. Take it upon yourself to look for potential problems and look for ways to improve our processes.
  • Work with little or no supervision. Check work order status and complete open work orders.
  • Use all resources to take care of problems. (make phone calls, research, etc…)
  • Be assertive on machine problems. Don't let problems linger. Don't give up.
  • Show the desire to keep building on the knowledge you have acquired.
  • Work off days when needed.
