Chemsolv represents over 100 manufacturers of industrial chemical, silicones, solvents, lubricants, metalworking fluids, and other specialty products.

We are now hiring a Procurement Director in the Roanoke, VA office.

The Procurement Director is responsible management of key sourcing, purchasing, leasing and vendor relationships as it relates to inventory and purchasing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Development of strategic plans to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency of the procurement organization
• Engages in cost and quality optimization strategies with suppliers and vendors
• Develop and implement purchasing strategies for supplier development and sourcing
• Manage and develop a team of procurement professionals to plan, execute, and deliver procurement services which are aligned to the goals of the company
• Stay informed of worldwide supply and demand issues which may impact the company's supply base
• Work to continually improve our suppliers in terms of quality, pricing, availability/on-time delivery, lead-times, communication, and long-term planning
• Work with multiple departments within the Company on new product launches to include managing all packaging from initial launch to end of product life cycle
• Manage supplier risk to mitigate business continuity risk and production interruptions
• Drive continuous improvements to create flexible and efficient supplier base
• Promote a positive company image, understands and supports overall company and department initiatives
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with team members, management and stakeholders that reflect a reputation for professional communication, trust, integrity, reliability, attention to detail and urgency
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure that all phases of operation are properly planned and executed in conjunction with purchasing action
• Establishes policies and ensures compliance
• Ensure compliance to project budgets and provide analysis on deviations
• Champion a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies and regulations.
• Incorporate safety into daily work ethic, initiative leadership and supplier management process
• Measure and track value added by procurement strategies and define budgetary impact
• Oversees departmental process upgrades and trainings
• Oversees internal consumables procurement program

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Science related discipline, or Engineering preferred
• 8-10+ years procurement/supply chain management experience required
• Expertise in management and negotiation of contracts
• Understanding of sourcing and procurement best practices that support supplier assessment, qualification, and ongoing management review process
• Demonstrated ability to drive continuous cost reduction and vendor optimization
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with understanding of ERP and procurement systems in general
• Willing to get involved in detail procurement as a working Director role with hands on RFP's, contracts, supplier management and issues and more
• Proven customer service skills required
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task, problem solve and prioritize
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to keep accurate records
