Under general direction, incumbent reports directly to the Procurement and Space Manager and indirectly to the Director of Finance. Position will work in a team environment and will be responsible for purchasing a wide variety of complex and individualized office and research supplies, equipment, and services for the Department of Neurology. Duties will include implementation of existing University policies related to procurement and travel/events to ensure policy compliance. Analyze, organize, and prioritize incoming requisitions, using judgment as to the completeness of specifications and required data needed. Place PAL Card orders and provide complete documentation for purchase in a timely manner, while ensuring compliance with PAL Card purchasing guidelines. As a key member of the purchasing team, provide assistance to the department and Central Purchasing/Accounting as required during critical deadlines. Maintain and uphold departmental purchasing procedures and reconciliation.
Compensation Range:
$26.14 - $28.64

Required:
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience.
  • Skill to function in a team environment by establishing and maintaining cooperative work relationships with faculty, staff, and administrators. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Thorough understanding of office procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in complex working environment, adjusting priorities as needed based on assignments and understanding mission and goals of the department Demonstrated skill in English grammar and syntax sufficient to evaluate written materials and correct errors.
  • Skill in organizing work for timely completion of assignments. Excellent communications skills with demonstrated ability to write correspondence, policies, and analytical reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and perform duties reliably and with thorough attention to detail. Ability to retrieve documents from various clinic sites. Demonstrated skill in forming and maintaining cooperative working relationships with others, i.e. effective interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent Computer Skills including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
Preferred:
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate overtime due to special projects, conferences, time differences; deadlines, etc. Working knowledge of business document formats; letters, memos, advertisements, grant applications etc .
  • Previous experience providing administrative support to senior management Ability to independently develop innovative, logical solutions to difficult, unusual, or first time problems and provide recommendations for action.
Special Conditions Preferred:
  • Requires some evening hours and/or overtime.
