Process Engineer


Situation in organization

Reports to the Reliability & Engineering Manager


Job dimensions

Responsible for the safe operation of the plant equipment/processes in compliance with all regulatory requirements
Responsible for ensuring processing are in place to produce quality product
Improve the performance of the plant through improvement of equipment and non-equipment processes
Responsible for meeting site and business Key Performance Indicators
Activities (tasks, resource, outcome)
Responsible for safety improvements for current and new processes
Practice Safe work habits in accordance with OSHA, EPA guidelines, and Bostik specific EHS expectations
Support plant PSM process ensuring PHA, MOC, PSSR and other regulatory requirements are being met
Determine critical parameters for producing products and use data analysis to improve processes
Monitor, validate and continuously improve the productivity of the manufacturing operation
Responsible for updating and maintaining process documentation and work instructions
Responsible for optimization and debottlenecking of production and packaging processes
Support manufacturing personnel in productivity and efficiency improvements through process and packaging trials
Provide trouble-shooting support for production issues
Working with corporate engineering on larger capital projects and manage/lead small capital projects
Ensure process engineering activities are compliant with all elements of the PSM standard
Context and environment
A fast paced, high pressure environment where you are involved in a wide variety of functions and activities
Heavy use of computer software, both PC based and enterprise system, combined with frequent interpersonal communication
Expectation is that a good portion or your time will be spent on the floor


Accountabilities

Continuous improvement of plant processes to meet plant and business objectives
Work with all functions of the plant and outside the plant to achieve results


Qualifications / experience required

B.S. in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with chemical industry experience. Converting process experience a plus (winders & slitting processes)
Experience with a highly developed Environmental, Health and Safety Program
Experience in a Process Safety Management manufacturing operation
Previous working knowledge in Design of Experiments, Statistical Process Control, Six Sigma and Lean.
Must demonstrate sound judgment, be well organized, and take initiative where appropriate
Facilitate resolution of complex issues using Lean/6 Sigma problem-solving tools and techniques
Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication
Proven analytical/problem-solving skills based on data
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities is required
Must be able to drive results and work effectively in a team setting
