PART-TIME PRESCHOOL TEACHER AIDE

(Early Childhood Program Specialist 1)


**We are hiring for this position to start in Fall 2023**

SALARY: $15.89 - 17.79 per hour, 18 hours per week (for 9.5 months each year)

LOCATION: Everett and Lynnwood


DESCRIPTION:

The Teacher Aide works with children in the classroom, assisting full time classroom staff with meal transitions, one on one or small group activities, and maintaining the classroom environment through light cleaning and restocking supplies. The Teacher/Family Advocate or Home Visitor and the Assistant Teacher direct the work of all Teacher Aides. This is a classified position and reports to the Education Site Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Work with children in a classroom setting
  • Assist with classroom snack and meal service
  • Assist with setting up a preschool classroom (including moving of child's size furniture, tables, chairs, shelves, and regular sized shelving units)
  • Perform regular sanitation and cleaning of the classroom
  • Maintain the health and safety of all children and their environment
  • Ensure that no child is ever left alone or unsupervised
  • Use an online scheduling system to schedule self for work
  • Other duties as assigned

This is a non-permanent classified position reporting to the Education Site Manager. This position is not scheduled to exceed 18 months.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be age 18 or older
  • Must possess a current Snohomish County Food Worker Card

PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is typically performed in a preschool classroom. Must be able to walk or run quickly, kneel or sit on the floor, lift approximately 50 pounds, sit in a child's size chair, and move quickly from multiple positions and levels. Requires the ability to perform regular sanitation/cleaning of the classroom that may require the use of a broom, carpet sweeper, mop, vacuum, and the use of cleaning products. Excellent communication skills are essential. This includes the ability to speak clearly and fully comprehend written and spoken English and will include communication with people for whom English is not their first language. WORK SCHEDULE:

Monday: 2 hours (either 8 AM - 10 AM or 9 AM - 11 AM, depending on work site)

Tuesday - Friday: 4 hours (either 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM, or 10:15 AM - 2:15 PM, depending on work site)

Total per week: 18 hours


COMPENSATION:

Salary range 30. Beginning salary is $15.89 - 17.79 per hour, 18 hours per week (for 9.5 months each year), with progressive increases to $19.09 per hour. Vacation and leave package includes 34 hours of sick leave per year, 1 personal holiday, 2 personal leave days, and 39 hours of vacation leave per year (incremental increases to 68 hours of vacation leave per year).


CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

You must document your citizenship or employment authorization within three days of hire.

Criminal background check. Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal history will be conducted.

All new positions are contingent upon funding.

  • This position is subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
