The Opportunity

Payson City is seeking a Power Director for the municipally owned and operated Payson Power & Light Department. The Power Director is responsible for the day-to-day management and operations of the utility, as well as driving leading-edge energy innovation.

Payson City Power has received national recognition for achieving exceptional electric reliability from American Public Power Association.

The mission of Payson Power is "committed to serve the citizens of Payson with safe, efficient and reliable power, at the most economical cost. We are committed to maintain and improve the power distribution system. To continue to educate its employees and citizens in electrical safety. To seek additional sources of efficient power. To provide funds to help sustain the Quality of Service."

The Power Director is expected to understand the range of operational matters, including power supply, financial information, budgeting, technology, energy innovation, generation and distribution of electricity, customer care, public relations, government affairs, and regulatory matters.

Payson Power operates with an annual budget of approximately $17 million. The Power Director leads a full-time staff of 14.

• Serve as "player-manager" with staff demonstrating competence in electric utility management, as well as coaching others to achieve maximum results.

Experience and Education Education

Education: Graduation from a college or university with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, business, finance or public administration. AND Experience: Twelve (12) years of broad general management and progressive experience in the electric utility industry. OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience. Compensation and Benefits

The following salary and benefits are being offered for this exempt position:

• Salary Range: $105,726 to $158,579
• Utah State Retirement
• Health Insurance: Either High Deductible Health Plan or Traditional Health Plan. If choose the high deductible health plan, City contributes $2,400 per plan year for a family or two-party, $1,200 for single.
