POSITION SUMMARY:

We are looking to hire an energetic and motivated Postdoctoral Scholar in Clinical Psychology (postdoc) to conduct clinical research at the USF Department of Psychiatry’s Innovation in Mental Health (iMH) Lab, under the mentorship of Brian Bunnell, PhD (https://health.usf.edu/medicine/labs/imh-lab). Research at the iMH lab is well-funded by NIH and integrates implementation science and biomedical informatics approaches to develop and evaluate health technology solutions (e.g., telemedicine, mHealth, virtual reality) that improve access and quality of care for patients with anxiety and related disorders (e.g., depression, PTSD, stress, sleep) across the developmental spectrum.

The postdoc will have the opportunity to collaborate on ongoing NIMH-funded research projects and will be focus primarily on contributing to the success of a NIMH-funded clinical trial evaluating the efficacy of a telemedicine-based Virtual Reality clinic for the treatment of specific phobias. The postdoc’s major responsibilities for this project will include conducting initial intake assessments with study participants and delivering exposure therapy over telemedicine using either traditional telemedicine approaches or telemedicine-based Virtual Reality. Additionally, the postdoc will have the opportunity collaborate on other ongoing NIMH-funded research projects, conduct independent research, apply for grant funding, and author/present health technology manuscripts using existing or newly collected data.

DUTIES:

Collaborating on ongoing NIMH-funded research projects; assisting with participant outreach and recruitment; obtaining informed consent from study participants; conducting initial intake assessments; delivering exposure therapy over telemedicine using either traditional telemedicine approaches or telemedicine-based Virtual Reality; ensuring study protocols are followed with high fidelity and reliability; ensuring governmental and university human subjects protection standards are followed during study processes. Collaborating on other NIH-funded research projects; and/or conducting independent research; and/or submitting grant proposals. Writing and submitting health technology manuscripts for publication using existing or newly collected data; presenting research at national conferences. Other research related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):

Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of a PhD from an American Psychological Association (APA)-accredited Clinical Psychology program; Completion of a Pre-Doctoral Internship in Clinical Psychology at an APA-accredited internship program in the United States of America. Candidates must have or obtain Provisional Licensure with the Florida Board of Psychology and obtain credentialing with USF Health prior to beginning employment. Candidates must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Postdoctoral Scholar.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred candidates will be motivated to pursue a career conducting independent, federally funded health technology research; demonstrate a track record of consistently publishing in peer reviewed journals; be proficient in qualitative and mixed methods research; have had experience conducting health technology research; have had clinical and research experience with patients diagnosed with anxiety, depression, and/or PTSD.
