    QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires possession of a current Basic Certificate as issued by the State Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training ( POST), and possession of a valid Class “C “ California State Driver’s License.

    Must have knowledge of modern law enforcement methods and procedures, particularly as they apply to school settings and juveniles; criminal investigation methods and techniques; report writing methods and techniques; federal, state and local law and ordinances relevant to school law enforcement; patrol procedures.

    Must possess the ability to effectively perform a variety of law enforcement work involved in patrolling District campuses and maintaining order, preventing crime, and enhancing student and staff safety; read, interpret, apply State, Federal, District policies, rules, laws, and directives; accurately observe and recall faces, names, numbers, and places; gather, analyze, and evaluate facts and evidence, draw logical conclusion and make proper recommendations; prepare detailed and accurate police reports; communicate effectively in oral and written forms; effectively coordinate crime prevention/investigations with allied law enforcement agencies; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties; meet physical requirement of the position.

    Two years of experience as a uniformed law enforcement officer with a California POST compliant municipal police department, sheriff’s office or similar law enforcement agency, along with successful completion of a POST-approved Field Training Program.

    Qualified applicants will be invited to participate in an oral interview process designed to appraise the applicant’s training, experience, knowledge, interest and suitability for the position.

    A PRE-EMPLOYMENT MEDICAL ASSESSMENT, PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATIONS AND A CRIMINAL HISTORY WILL BE REQUIRED OF SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT. MUST SUBMIT WITH APPLICATION A CURRENT COPY OF BASIC POST CERTIFICATE ISSUED THROUGH A POST CERTIFIED POLICE AGENCY.

    DUTIES OF POSITION: KHSD Police Officers function as peace officers as described in California Penal Code §830.32 and Education Code §38000. Under direction and as assigned, the police officer patrols District campuses and surrounding areas, maintains order, detects and prevents crime, interviews victims, witnesses and suspects of crimes and performs criminal investigations. Employees of this classification are under the direct supervision of an assigned District Police Sergeant. This job classification is responsible for law enforcement duties related to the safety and security of District students, staff and property.


    STARTING SALARY: $5,527.40(monthly)

    NUMBER OF MONTHS: 11 (to begin as soon as possible)

    NUMBER OF HOURS: 8 (daily working hours 7:30a.m. to 4:30p.m.)
