Mission Statement

Jacobs provides field, range, testing, chemical, and biological laboratory support to the U.S. Army at the West Desert Test Center (WDTC) located at Dugway Proving Ground (DPG), UT. As a major test site for the U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command, the WDTC is responsible for the test and evaluation of chemical and biological (CB) defense systems, incendiary and smoke/obscuration munitions systems, and related operational concepts.
In addition to these responsibilities, we also support non-CB testing at the WDTC for the DOD and other Federal agencies, including environmental assessment/impact evaluation and munitions demilitarization.

Our Dugway Operation was established in 2004 with the award of the Field, Range, Chamber, and Laboratory Support Services (FRC&LSS) contract to Jacobs. Through the FRC&LSS contract, we have integrated with Mellor Engineering, TOPE, and JRAD with a composite staff size of more than 170 personnel.

Jacobs is seeking a POL/ HAZ Waste Technician to support the Dugway Proving Ground (DPG) Contract.

Responsibilities:

Primary duties shall include aircraft refueling and servicing procedures, following appropriate regulation and manuals, as well as snow removal and runway sweeping procedures. Experience (aviation gas (AVGAS) and NATO Grade F-24 jet fuel (F24)), directing ground traffic, securing aircraft in parking position, and other aircraft support. Experienced in the operation of aviation ground support equipment.


Other Duties include:

Receiving bulk and packaged POL products from government supply or contract delivery.

Must have familiarity with and be able to identify products by visual and American Petroleum Institute (API) gravity tests.

Selects and submits samples of POL to laboratory for quality testing.

Loads and unloads POL supplies from storage areas, aircraft, and trucks.

Complies with all safety requirements.

Inspect storage facilities and report to the airfield manager.

Perform operator's maintenance on dispensing equipment

Inspects refueling trucks, vent pumps, pressure hoses and removes water and contaminants from filters and separators.

Performs petroleum accounting, inventories stock, complies daily and end of month fuel usage reports and provides copies as necessary.

Requests needed POL supplies to replenish expended stock as necessary.

Refuels and defuels aircraft and support equipment.

Prepares for and accompanies inspectors on all inspections.

Shall maintain records of Aqua Glo test and Millipore tests

Conducts training and maintains and updates files on hazardous waste.

Tracks and accounts for all material safety data sheets, and a hazardous waste minimization plan.

Maintain accumulation logs and storage area.

Containerizing, labeling, and transporting hazardous waste to the appropriate turn in areas.

Attend all post environmental action meetings and any training required by Dugway Proving Ground.

Here’s What You’ll Need:


Must possess at a minimum or be able to obtain within 90 days of hire, a Utah Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License.


Must have or be able to obtain the 40 hour HAZWOPER Certification, IAW 29 CFR 1910.120 (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response), within 90 days of hire.


  • Additional duties may be required as needed.

Required Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.


Required Education and Experience:

Specialized training in providing ground services for aircraft. Experienced in fueling aircraft, directing ground traffic, securing aircraft in parking position, and other aircraft support. Experienced in the operation of aviation ground support equipment.

  • Medium- Exerts up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time.


Work Environment



Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require filing, typing, and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility, included but not limited to: bending, reaching, turning and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. Must be able to lift and carry up to 35 pounds.



Equipment and Machines



Ability to operate office equipment such as a personal computer, printer, copy machine, telephone, fax machine and other equipment including desk supplies and other work-related tools as required.



Attendance



Airfield hours will be between Monday-Saturday 6:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. Individual shift will be determined upon hire. Regular attendance of scheduled hours is extremely important, but not critical, except for deadlines and meetings.

Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary to meet deadlines. Must exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical mission requirements. Overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays may be required as needed.

Must have clear, concise, and accurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written.



Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to employees or others.



Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner.



Independent personal transportation to office or work site is required.



Travel to and from customer’s locations and the test fields may be required to support projects.
This may involve airline travel.



When operating any vehicle for work purposes, must wear seat belt and in addition, no cellular devices are to be used when vehicle is in motion.



This position will require a valid driver license to operate a variety of vehicles.
