PromptCare Home Infusion pays a competitive salary, offers fantastic benefits and is looking for a Pharmacy Technician to join our specialty home infusion practice in the New Providence, NJ branch. The primary focus of the Pharmacy Technician is to perform those duties, which assist the Pharmacist in completing departmental tasks and functions consistent with pharmacy law, regulations and company policies. The successful candidate must have a strong customer-service and patient-service focus and enjoys working as part of an eager team of pharmacists, technicians and nurses.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school graduate or equivalent AS degree or specialized training desirable
  • 1 year related experience with parenteral admixture in Hospital or Homecare Pharmacy
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred
  • Knowledge of IV medications and USP 797 preferred
  • Good manual dexterity; proficiency with aseptic technique; knowledge of pharmacy admixture techniques
  • Computer literate
Requirements:
  • Comply with division guidelines regarding payroll record keeping (i.e., timecard punching, vacation requests, sick callouts).
  • Arrive at workstation at scheduled start time prepared to work, do not leave workstation until scheduled end time.
  • Be polite and courteous to all co-workers, customers and vendors to assure a pleasant work environment.
  • Arrive at work in appropriate attire as specified in the administrative or departmental dress code policy.
  • Demonstrate a “team” philosophy in daily operations and problem solving methods.
  • Be aware of the surrounding physical environment to assure a safe instructed by the company (i.e., FDA, CHAP, DOT, OSHA, DEA, DEP, etc.).

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Keep all patient information confidential, in accordance with company procedure and HIPAA Regulations.
  • Keep all financial information confidential, in accordance with company procedure and HIPAA Regulations.
  • Accurately completes calculations of product preparation and obtains validation from supervising pharmacist.
  • Prepares labels, prescriptions and work orders for admixture.
  • Compounds patient prescriptions as allowed by state pharmacy laws under supervising pharmacist.
  • Properly labels product and documents appropriate information (lot numbers, expiration dates, etc.) on pharmacy work orders and delivery tickets.
  • Completes all chart documentation in a timely manner.
  • Makes appropriate corrections to inventory/supplies on Pharmacy Work Orders/Delivery Tickets.
  • Reviews patient Delivery Ticket for adequacy of supply type and quantities.
  • Picks patient supplies according to Delivery Ticket and double checks accuracy, making appropriate corrections to inventory/supplies (i.e., product numbers, quantities).
  • Ensures equipment is patient-ready when packing order.
  • Packs patient orders for delivery with appropriate containers, labels, etc.
  • Communicates with delivery supervisor in a timely manner for “same day” and “timed” deliveries.
  • Proper use of Federal Express Equipment.
  • Assists with ordering for supply and disposable area by communicating to supervisor when level has dropped below minimum.
  • Maintains pharmacy drug supply levels by completing purchase requisitions and forwarding to supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Assists with stocking of received goods onto assigned warehouse shelves.
  • Stocks pharmacy shelves and maintains desired levels of drug supplies, etc., within the clean area.

OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED:

  • Able to work extended hours with little or no notice, as needed.
  • Attend staff meetings, teleconferences and patient care conferences as needed.
  • Able to travel on business, potentially on some overnight trips, on rare occasion.
  • Able to lift a minimum weight of 35 pounds, and able to perform repetitive standing, sitting, stooping, walking, stretching, reaching, and use full range of body motions.
  • Understand and follow PromptCare’s employee policies and procedures.
  • Inspects pharmacy shelves per policy, rotating stock and removing expired goods and completes required Inventory Adjustment Forms.
  • Assists in quarterly and cycle inventory counts.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of clean rooms and warehouse supply areas.
  • Discards biohazardous/chemotherapy waste per policy.
  • Calibrates auto mix pumps for accuracy.
  • Performs and documents quality control activities for equipment according to policy.
  • Performs environmental and end product testing per policy.
  • Maintains proper attire and uses appropriate protective barriers per policy.
  • Reviews and edits Pharmacy Work Order edit.
  • Unresolved billing issues are brought to manager in a timely manner.
